I got this a few days ago as an early birthday present, I’ve compared this specific model to a couple of Cole Clarks, Taylors, Pratleys, even Martins and other Maton models and ended up with this beautiful thing. Hands down one of my favourite acoustics guitar. I’ve been using it in the studio with the mic on full, piezo on 50-70%, bass on 3/4, treble almost off, FQ off and mid at 8:00. No need to mic it up! (Although I would still for more options.) Live I would have Mic on full (or 70%), Piezo on full, and EQ depending on the room and PA.

The Collins sounds a bit more modern, the H&D more vintage. Both sound great, either will work depending on what your playing and looking for. That said, the Huss has the tone I am looking for in that type of guitar for the music I play, though I can see the Collins might be more versatile? I guess I need both LOL!

Glad I did. Love that guitar. Aesthetics, sound and structural quality...everything is spot on. And I love that full C neck too. It feels more comfortable to me than the current Modified Low Oval neck of my Martin guitars. Keep up your inspiring work.

That traditional is insanely good. Thanks for this video, it explained some of the differences of the traditional versus regular models. I found a used traditional one in a store. Used it's almost the same price as a brand new regular one but it's so extremely good. I'm getting rid of all guitars but 1 to get it.

Just kidding you man, for real though, thank you for making this video, I was looking for this specific thing and couldn't believe that there wasn't more videos that showed off the pickup system on the Maton's. Almost every other video mentioned how great the pickups sounded plug in but then proceeded to mic it up and play a demo of the guitar like we were in the studio with it, which is cool and all, but ain't what I was wanting to hear. So thank you guys for making this video just like you made it. Appreciated. And on a side note, when I am in my sound guy role, Steely Dan's Aja album is one of my go to albums to set the mains with. It's tried and true for a reason, and that reason is that all of us sound guys got together and agreed that their sound is just about as close to perfect as anyone could get. It's that good. Plus it is one of the non offensive bands you can play where a lot of people will love it and almost no one will hate it. Same thing for in between music, if I put on Van Morrison, It's like a mood shifter, everyone just gets happier. It's crazy to see these sorts of things, because sometimes I think we convince ourselves that our experiences are so different from everyone else's, but they really aren't that different sometimes.

Did I hear this right? You can only use 1 of the 6 effects at a time and you have to send the single effect to both channels, or pan it? Seems pretty limiting. Can't have one effect on the guitar and different one on the other channel. If you have external effects via the effects loop, are they applied equally to both channels?

I had a 64 15" Vibroverb that I lent to a friend and later he said it was stolen from his house.....he in turn gave me a gibson Les Paul and a small Fender Amp...still think I got screwed

Would you say this is better acoustically than their 808s?

These seem to be SO rare? Haven't been able to find one anywhere!

Would you say there's much of an acoustic tonal difference between the regular 808 and the 808 with cutaway?

I have a Collings 01 Mh, all hog. These guitars were built originally for a reason:: reduction of long-term hand and body fatigue for the everyday player. The most fatguing guitar to play is a dreadnought, yet everyone wants one.
